ABOUT ITALIAN LANGUAGE LESSONS AT THE AICC
The American Italian Cultural Center (AICC) Italian Language Lessons are offered in four different levels carefully designed on the basis of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language (ACTFL) national proficiency scale. All classes are taught by a native Italian teacher and have a friendly and motivating atmosphere. If you are unsure of your course level, please call the AICC at 504-522-7294
Courses are held at the American Italian Cultural Center located at 537 S Peters St in Downtown New Orleans, LA and at the Italian American Bocce Club of Greater New Orleans located at 2340 Severn Avenue, Metairie. Each class will include a total of eight 1.5 hour sessions.
A minimum of three students is needed for a class to be held. If the class you register for does not meet the minimum requirement your enrollment will be moved to a different session or you may request a full refund.
Due to a change in our instructor’s schedule, classes will begin the week of April 1 and run through June 1. For those already enrolled, you can select a new class, move your registration to the summer session, or request a refund. Thanks for your understanding.

Payment is required BEFORE the first day of class. Class dates and times are subject to change.
Students who cancel their registration up to three days before the first class will receive a 75% refund. There will be a 50% refund if student cancels after the first class and before the second class. No refunds will be given after the second class. There will be a full refund if the AICC cancels the entire class schedule. Requests must be submitted by email to email@example.com.
Develop basic language skills and a general understanding of communicating in Italian. After completion, students will be able to speak in present tense and be able to read and write basic sentences. Proficiency goal on the ACTFL scale: Novice High. No prerequisite.
Tuesdays (7:00 – 8:30 pm) at the Bocce Club, class runs April 2 – May 21
Saturdays (9:30 – 11:00 am) at the AICC, class runs April 6 – June 1; no class April 20
Students will continue to build upon their knowledge and skill of the language and learn more vocabulary and grammar so they will be able to speak more about basic everyday situations. Students will also be using past tense. Proficiency goal on the ACTFL scale: Intermediate Low.
Mondays (6:45 – 8:15 pm) at the AICC, class runs April 1 – May 20
Saturdays (11:00 – 12:30 am) at the AICC, class runs April 6 – June 1; no class April 20
Recommended for students who have completed the Novice and Intermediate Italian courses and are approaching a conversational level. Students will increase their proficiency and will be able to speak about basic situations using present, past and future tenses. Proficiency on the ACTFL scale: from Intermediate High to Advanced Low.
